Day 1: Basic
Programme runs from 9am to 4.30pm
Aim of the day’s programme: to give an overview of common gynaecological conditions and their management in primary care, to increase confidence in assessment.
Who should attend:
- GP registrars/GPs who haven't done a hospital O&G job
- Nurse Practitioners
- GPs who would like a 'refresher' in gynaecology to increase confidence in assessing and managing women with gynaecological symptoms
We will focus on:
- Basics of gynaecology (history, examination, assessment)
- Initial management of women presenting with gynaecology problems
- Covering common presenting problems including:
- menstrual disorders
- early pregnancy complications
- urinary incontinence
- prolapse
- infertility
- pelvic pain
- sterilisation
- cervical screening & HPV vaccine
- When to refer to secondary care

Day 2: Advanced
Programme runs from 9am to 4.30pm
Aim of the day’s programme: to update on advances in management of gynaecological conditions and how to successfully refer to secondary care.
Who should attend:
- Those who have attended Day 1
- Nurse Practitioners & GPs confident in initial management of gynaecological complaints
- Nurse Practitioners and GPs with a special interest in women’s health
- Nurse Practitioners and GPs running well women clinics
We will focus on:
Current management of complex problems including:
- Urinary incontinence
- Prolapse
- PCOS & long term health consequences
- Menstrual disorders
- Vulval disorders
- Post menopausal bleeding
- Early pregnancy loss
- Recurrent miscarriage
- Hirsuitism
- Ovarian cysts in pre and post menopausal women
- Thickened endometriumin asymptomatic post menopausal women
- Chronic pelvic pain
To include:
- Referral pathways
- Update on new procedures and techniques
- How to make referrals that won't be rejected by referral management groups
