Oral presentations and posters present an excellent opportunity to stimulate debate, raise issues or highlight quality work being carried out by teams or individuals.  Abstracts may be by way of a case study or a professional experience - the knowledge of which would be of benefit to others in the multidisciplinary team.

Submissions are crucial to our programme because we want the Conference to be as topical and relevant as possible.  Abstracts will be accepted either as 6 minute oral presentations, 3 minute poster presentations or posters without presentation.  Selected papers of great interest and merit will be awarded 12 minute presentation slots.  Posters will be viewed during all break times. So your presentation will have profile, once it has been accepted by the Abstract Review Committee.

Papers that have been accepted or published at other meetings may be submitted.  We ask that if a paper has been accepted or published at another meeting, then a declaration to this effect is sent with your submission.  Please confirm that it will be satisfactory to publish your paper again, in the Conference proceedings from this event.

Submissions are invited on any subject relevant to the management of DSD and hypospadias, including:

  • Antenatal diagnosis
  • Embryology and development
  • Endocrine understanding and management
  • Epidemiology
  • Genetics
  • Hospital management
  • Laboratory and clinical research
  • Long-term follow up
  • Multi disciplinary working
  • Postnatal diagnosis and management
  • Psychological evaluation and therapy
  • Reproduction
  • Sex
  • Social economic and racial issues
  • Surgical techniques

We have aimed to keep the Abstract Submission process as simple as possible – so if you have not previously submitted an abstract, now is your opportunity!

There will be various types of video presentations during the Conference:

Click here to go to the submission web site

Firstly three-minute videos are requested from surgeons to contribute to technical sessions called How I do it”. The videos will be shown together for each topic and then their authors invited to take part in a following panel discussion on the various approaches we have seen.

Due to constraints of time and the need to include as many submissions as possible, the videos should be focussed on the list of topics below and not necessarily include complete procedures. They should preferably have an audio commentary, although a live commentary can also be given at the time of the meeting. As an alternative, a Powerpoint presentation of still photographs can be given but must not exceed 3 minutes in duration.

  • Approach to the distal hypospadias with small glans/no groove
  • Chordee correction in major hypospadias
  • Clitoral reduction
  • Replacement vaginoplasty
  • Single stage hypospadias
  • Vaginoplasty for CAH

Other video submissions are requested for video-booths at the Conference and may also be included within the main programme. They should include an audio commentary. In addition to surgical procedures, those on patient and parent interviews, multidisciplinary working in action, patient information and patient stories would be very welcome. The content can either be directed towards specific delegates – e.g. endocrinologists, psychologists, surgeons etc – or to the whole Conference audience.

Instructions for Submitting a Video:

As videos maybe placed in the Journal of Pediatric Urology Videobank for instructions please refer to: http://www.jpurol.com/content/multimedia

The psychological group will in addition be putting together a video session, illustrating some of the issues they encounter with patients and any submissions for this would be very welcome.

Bring any case for presentation in our “Stress the Experts” sessions. We will assemble multi-disciplinary panels to discuss your difficult cases in front of the audience before opening up a general discussion. These sessions will be highly interactive forums to discuss complex and everyday diagnostic, management, ethical and moral conundrums related to DSD and hypospadias.

One will be about the Current Management of Hypospadias and the other will review the Current Management of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia. The results of these surveys will be presented at the Conference to give an overview of the different ways in which we manage our patients.  We encourage all professionals to complete the surveys in order to provide the maximum amount of data.  We will E-Mail all contacts when the surveys have been posted up.
